Salar Mahmoud, a member of the Leadership Council of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), visited the headquarters of Norway’s Socialist Left Party (SV) in Oslo, where he was received by Gjermund Skaar, the party’s Head of International Relations.

During the meeting, attended by Rizgar Horeni and Shakhawan Harki, Mahmoud expressed his appreciation for the role played by Norwegian political parties in the Norwegian Parliament’s 2012 recognition of the Halabja genocide. He particularly highlighted the contribution of former Socialist Left Party MPs who visited Halabja and helped raise international awareness of the issue, including Skaar himself.
Skaar said they would continue their efforts to prevent the threat and risk of international crimes being repeated against the people of Kurdistan. He thanked Mahmoud for his visit and praised the positive presence and influence of the Kurdish diaspora in Norway.
