| WHO, Norway team up to establish health institute |

The World Health Organization and Norway have signed a $3.9 million agreement to establish a Palestinian national public health institute, officials said Thursday. The WHO will manage the two-year project, partnering with the Norwegian Institute for Public Health and the Palestinian Ministry of Health to develop the institute, the WHO said in a statement carried by the official Palestinian Authority news agency.Local WHO chief Anthony Laurance said the goal of the project “is to improve the health of the Palestinian people through better use of data and better prevention,” according to Wafa, the news agency.
Minister of Health Fathi Abu Mogli thanked the WHO and Norway for supporting the initiative, and stressed that his ministry believes in the importance of promoting health surveillance and research, Wafa reported. |
