Sun shines as Charles and Camilla land in Oslo
[20.03.2012, 05:48pm, Tue. GMT]
Prince Charles and his wife Camilla arrived to glorious sunshine at Oslo’s Gardermoen airport on Tuesday afternoon as they were welcomed to Norway by Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit. The British royals stepped onto the red carpet at 1.40pm, kicking off a hectic three-day tour of Norway. Later on Tuesday, the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall laid a wreath at the National Monument in Oslo. They then planned to meet survivors of last summer’s Utøya island massacre, before ending the day with dinner at the Royal Palace in Oslo. Most of Wednesday is to be spent visiting the western city of Bergen, where the couple will attend a concert and official reception at Haakonshallen, as well as receiving a guided tour of Bryggen, the city’s UNESCO-listed old wharf.

Before departing for Sweden and Denmark, Charles and Camilla will be guided on Thursday by Norway’s King Harald and Queen Sonja as they pay a visit to the popular Oslo exhibition, “Royal Journeys 1905-2005”.

The royal visit forms part of a series of international trips to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s 60 years on the British throne.
