[24.11.2011, 06:37pm, Thu. GMT]
Figures from Statistics Norway for the first three quarters of 2011 show that the increase in population in Norway continues. The figures show there is a growth in population in 309 of the 430 municipalities in the country. This is seven more than last year and the highest figure for the first three quarters of the period between 1998-2011.Immigration accounts for a total of two-thirds of population growth on national basis. Thanks to immigration, 63 district municipalities had growth in population.

- We see the positive trend of growth in population continues. Immigration means a lot of growth in the smallest municipalities in Norway. I am looking forward that the growth in population come true for the whole country, from cities to small communities, says Local Government and Regional Minister Liv Signe.
