| Norway's Statoil announces large gas find offshore Tanzania |

Norway's Statoil on Friday said it and partner ExxonMobil had made a large gas discovery offshore Tanzania in the first exploration well in Block 2. It said drilling operations were still ongoing and it was too early to give any indication of size and commerciality. The well was spudded in early January 2012 and drilling operations are expected to take up to a total of three months to complete, Statoil said.Statoil operates the license in Block 2 on behalf of Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation and has a 65% working interest, with ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Tanzania Ltd. holding the remaining 35%.
