| Turning Threat into Peace and Prosperity – China, Taiwan and the US |

The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs is offering a seminar on, “The Warming Cross-Strait Relationship: Turning Threat into Peace and Prosperity,” to be held on 10 November 2011 at NUPI, located at C.J. Hambros plass 2D. The Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI) “carries out research and disseminates findings on global power relations, security policy, development issues, international economics and Norwegian foreign policy.”Ambassador Victor T-Sun, Taipei Representative in Norway will provide the opening remarks and economic side of the topic.. This will be followed by a presentation from Professor Chu-Cheng Ming of the National Taiwan University on the status of “Cross-Strait Economic Cooperation and its Implication to Regional Stability and Prosperity.”
A second presentation from Dr. Øystein Tunsjø of the Norwegian Institute for Defense Studies (IFS) will cover “The US-Taiwan-China Triangular Relations-both in the past and present.”
Relations have cooled between Norway and mainland China since the awarding of the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize Award to Chinese dissident, Liu Xiaobo.
