| Norway gunman planned attacks on media |

The Norwegian gunman who killed 77 people in two attacks in July had also planned to attack several local media outlets, Norway public radio reported yesterday. The radio station NRK, which said it was familiar with the police investigation, reported that rightwing extremist Anders Behring Breivik had looked into bombing NRK’s headquarters in Oslo, as well as local newspapers AG and Aftenposten in the country’s capital.NRK reported that Breivik thought media outlets and journalists should be considered “high priority” targets. Breivik made reconnaissance missions to the outlets’ buildings and identified the spot where journalists took a cigarette break.
According to NRK, he wanted to make two bombs weighing between 50 and 60 kilos, which he wanted to deliver dressed as a Fed-Ex delivery man. Breivik told police he aborted the plan, saying the attack in Utoeya island would be easier.
On July 22, he went to the island, some 40km northwest of Oslo, and, dressed as a police officer, spent over an hour methodically shooting and killing 69 people, mainly teens, at a summer camp hosted by the ruling Labour Party’s youth wing.
