| Norwegian Christmas with butter in Taiwan |
| [29.12.2011, 06:00am, Thu. GMT] |
Norwegians in Taiwan gathered for a traditional Norwegian Christmas celebration on Christmas Eve. All Norwegians in Taiwan were invited via e-mail to observe Christmas in Xindian City. A handful of Norwegians unable to travel to their beloved homeland, or who are living in Taiwan, came together with friends to give thanks with good companionship. Except for the lack of snow, everything was Norwegian. Even Norwegian butter sat on the table. The fact Taiwan has no shortage of butter was just one more reason for celebration. The butter crisis in Norway became a hot topic in Taiwan just before Christmas thanks to Taiwan’s television station (see VG's webTV: http://www.vgtv.no/#!id=47348).
Norway does not have an embassy, consulate, trade or cultural office (not even a seamen’s church) in Taiwan.
The Norwegian Embassy in Singapore and The Norwegian Seamen's Mission both have lists of helpful contact people on Taiwan. Other than these contacts, the best place for updates about Norwegians in Taiwan is Norway News.
