Norwegian soldier killed in Afghanistan

A Norwegian soldier has been killed on a mission in the Ghowrmach District in the north of Afghanistan, when his armored vehicle hit a road mine, according to the Norwegian Defense Command. Two other Norwegian soldiers in the same vehicle were slightly injured, according to NRK. The dead soldier and those injured were evacuated by a helicopter from the Norwegian base at Meymaneh.
The soldiers belonged to the Telemark Batallion, and were on tier way to meet a group of men from the Afghan Army, to carry out joint patrols in the area.

There are around 700 Norwegian troops deployed with the NATO-led ISAF force in Afghanistan at present.
