[23.08.2008, 12:37pm, Sat. GMT]
In a meeting between the two best teams in the sport, Norway rolled to a 34-27 victory over Russia to win the gold medal in women's handball at the Beijing Olympics.  The final was a rematch of the 2006 European championships, won by Norway, and the 2007 world championships, won by Russia.  Norway opened the game with a 13-3 run, taking its 10-goal lead midway through the first half on one of Linn-Kristin Riegelhuth's nine tallies. Russia pulled within 18-13 at halftime, but would never be closer than five goals the rest of the way.  It was the first Olympic medal for Norway in handball since the women's team won bronze in 2000.In the bronze medal game, Korea beat up Hungary for 33-28 victory to build on the silver medal it won in the 2004 Athens Olympics.
