| Norway won a gold medal in men's javelin Saturday at the Beijing Games, making him a two-time defending Olympic champion in the event. Thorkildsen made it two straight golds by turning in an Olympic-record toss of 90.57 meters, easily outdistancing Latvia's Ainars Kovals, who had a best throw of 86.64 meters. Finland's Tero Pitkamaki won the bronze and was just .16 meters behind Kovals. The next two places were also held by Finns as Tero Jarvenpaa and Teemu Wirkkala ended fourth and fifth, respectively.INAN |
